 Mate comes from the Ilex paraguariensis plant which originally grew on the lands of the Guaranis people, a large region of South America which includes Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, southeastern Bolivia and Uruguay . Mate in the Inca language means a gourd and in Portuguese it is the name Erva Maté which designates the mate herb but in Brazil it is rather Chimarrão coming from cimarrón which means any domesticated animal which escapes men and returns to its state savage. We also find other names like Paraguayan or Brazilian tea.


 Best known today as a substitute for coffee for its caffeine content, it also contains theobromine which is found in cocoa, directly called theobroma cacao (theobroma meaning food of the gods) but also in other Amazonian plants. highly caffeinated like guaraná. Yerba Mate also contains antioxidants, vitamin A, B1, B2, C, E, proteins, amino acids and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc which make it an ideal drink to accompany us through our days .

 Use : As an infusion, leave 3 to 5 grams of mate for a few minutes in water at room temperature before pouring in your hot water at a temperature of 90°. You can pour hot water for a new infusion with the same dosage.
